King Of The Smoky Mountain Banjo Players. It's one of his earliest releases. It was originally called "King of the Smokey Mountain Banjo" album (RR-146) and is given the highest marks. Known as the "31 tune album," some even thought it was too long. An additional album by the same name (RR-254) was subsequently released about six years later by the label. Only three cuts were different. Fairchild's pleasant banjo album of mostly old standards included backing by Red White's Dixie Bluegrass Boys (Buck Duncan, Roy Mull, Tommy Rodgers).

Smokey Mountain was the term coined for a large landfill once located in Tondo, Manila. Smokey Mountain operated for more than 40 years, consisting of over two million metric tons of waste. The flammable substances on decomposing waste led to numerous fires which has resulted in many deaths.
