Description

Album · 1999 · 11 Songs.

This Is Normal ‎(Cass, Album, Unofficial). Music Land Records (2). 3293. I got this CD a while back in the late 90's, and it holds up pretty well with all the pop and programming that's been around since then. The album tries to mirror apollo four fourty's "blue" album (IMO) and tries to utilize lyrics and tone like Pulp. They had a distinctive, yet common sound but also had a way of mixing that created this good disc. I had the version which had the remixing software (which has phased out through time, but still is fun)

After the group's third album, This Is Normal (1999), the filmmaking arm of Gusgus (Kjartansson and Árni Þorgeirsson) split off to form the production company Celebrator, now known as Arni & Kinski, which has produced advertisements and videos. A few former members such as Hafdís Huld, Blake, and Daníel Ágúst have gone solo, some though Emilíana Torrini, who provided a song for the soundtrack of Peter Jackson's film The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. This Is Normal (1999) - UK No. 94. Gus Gus vs. T-World (2000).

Gus Gus' second album, This Is Normal, heralds their discovery that they are first and foremost a pop band. While the spacious, sophisticated electronica they developed on their debut (Polydistortion) is still evident, This Is Normal's smooth, streamlined finish has more than a nodding acquaintance with dance-pop

Arni & Kinski) called Pleasure. Initially the band was acclaimed as an avant-garde collective of musicians, producers, filmmakers and performers. They mixed together different mediums to create a unique mixture of sound and vision. In 1996 the band signed to 4AD Records that released their widely acclaimed second album Polydistortion. This Is Normal" followed in 1999 and finally "Gus Gus vs T-World" appeared in 2000. During the 4AD years, Gus Gus started touring massively, stirring the music world with their powerful live-show. The touring life was stressful for the nine some and eventually called for changes within the line up.
