Golden Years is a 1983 compilation album by David Bowie issued by RCA Records. After 11 years with RCA Records, Bowie left the label and signed with EMI Records, releasing his highly successful album Let's Dance in 1983. The cover art featured a recent photo of Bowie, giving a false first impression the album was an all-new release

Golden Years" is a song written and recorded by David Bowie in 1975. It was originally released in a shortened form as a single in November 1975, and in its full-length version in January the following year on the Station to Station album. It was the first track completed during the Station to Station sessions, a period when Bowie's cocaine addiction was at its peak. At one stage it was slated to be the album's title track.

Bowie made an appearance on Soul Train singing (actually, lip synching) "Golden Years" and "Fame" on November 4, 1975. Few white performers had appeared on the show, but host Don Cornelius gave him a warm welcome, introducing him as "one of the world’s most popular and important music personalities. For Bowie, Soul Train was a big deal because he grew up listening to many of the American R&B who appeared on the show. He was nervous, and reportedly got a little drunk beforehand to take the edge off; footage does appear to show him stumbling over his lyrics

Love it!basing it on a 1983 setlist was an inspired idea and avoided a predictable "hits" selection.Mastering is superb LP versions are available very cheaply because some fans considered it " redundant" "eccentric" or "a cash-in"the last 2 of those are true but the 1st definitely isn'tmost people on audiophile forums rank this ahead of Fame and Fashion, I would rank my European LP copy only equal or slightly lesser so maybe theres an even better copy out there waiting for me to find it!
