Steel Mill biography Formed in London, UK in 1969 - Disbanded in 1972. The history of STEEL MILL is shrouded in mystery. I can do little here but relate extracts from the liner notes from the 1994 CD re-release of their one and only album, "Green Eyed God". These were written by Mark Brennan, who documented his efforts to find out some background information on the band thus: "I first spoke to producer John Schroder who recalled the band's name and the fact that the LP was recorded at London's De Lane Lea studios, but other than that he had no recollection of the album. Larry Page, the legendary producer/manager who owned Penny Farthing records who released (the two singles and one.
Studio album by Willard. Steel Mill is the only full-length studio album recorded by the American grunge band Willard.
Willard emerged in the middle of the 80's - 90's grunge movement. And to top it off, their debut album "Steel Mill" was produced by Jack Endino - the man responsible for Nirvana's "Bleach". The critics instantly tagged the music as "grunge", but Willard was heavier than Pearl Jam, rawer than Soundgarden and definitely more.
All songs written by Willard except "Folsom" by Johnny Cash. Recording information: Recorded at Avast Recording, Seattle, WA Mixed at Avast Recording and The Music Source, Seattle, WA.
Steel Mill's solitary album, Green Eyed God is finally saw a proper release (with extras!) in Jewels Of The Forest. Recorded and released in Germany on Bellaphon Records in 1972, it was not released in their home country on Penny Farthing until 1975. At this point, Black Sabbath was firmly in control, and the band had long since dissolved. Green Eyed God circled amongst the bootleggers, until saxophonist John Challenger unearthed some original acetates of the band's singles and demos in his attic
