Considered Dead is the debut full-length album by Canadian death metal band Gorguts And Then Comes Lividity. The album features guest vocals by Chris Barnes of Cannibal Corpse on three tracks, as well as a guest guitar solo by James Murphy, who has played with Death, Obituary, and Testament

Unfortunately, Considered Dead really isn't worthy of praise on that level from any perspective - it's just an unremarkable OSDM album that's kind of fun and catchy but could only be described as "life-changing" by people who have never heard music before in their lives. Timeghoul essentially took this release and improved everything that's wrong or unsatisfactory about it, so you might as well just go listen to them. On their third album, Obscura, Franco-Canadians Gorguts would push the boundaries of what was meant by e death metal. However, their debut album, which although not as progressive or technical was by no means simplistic, has become a classic of Old School Death Metal. The Gorguts line-up was made up of Luc Lemay, the only band member present on all their releases, and Sylvain Marcoux on guitars, Eric Giguere on bass and Stephane Provencher on drums.

One has to wonder if French Canadians Gorguts didn't actually intend to name their debut album, 1991's Considered Dead, "Considered Death" (no, not "Deaf"!), as its contents surely embody the purest form of old-school death metal. Or at least old-school death metal as defined by pioneering efforts like Beneath the Remains and Arise from Brazilians Sepultura: hyperfast, very technical, ultrabrutal, but also characterized by healthy injections of melodic guitar harmonies and slower doom sections.

The sound Gorguts is famous with isn't yet exhibited, and it's rather a standard OSDM feeling. Nevertheless it's really well made and enjoyable.
