Roy Campbell is one of the top trumpet players around today. Khan Jamal is currently my favourite vibes player-and I say this as a vibraphonist. Until I heard Jamal-whose playing goes back to the Douglas Loft Sessions-my favourite vibraphonist was Walt Dickerson. Some very interesting moments on this record, but overall too much of a mixed bag to recommend. It's Krunch Time is the sixth album by American jazz trumpeter Roy Campbell, recorded and released in 2001 on Thirsty Ear's Blue Series, a line of recordings under the artistic direction of pianist Matthew Shipp. The album includes a version of Thelonious Monk composition "Bemsha Swing" and a solo trumpet rendition of the US national anthem "Star Spangled Banner". Other Dimensions In Music is a free jazz group founded in the 1980s. The group is a collective quartet composed of trumpeter Roy Campbell, t Daniel Carter, bassist William Parker and drummer Rashid Bakr. Campbell, Parker and Bakr began working together as members of Jemeel Moondoc‘s group Muntu. Other Dimensions In Music came into existence when Carter joined them in 1981.
