Album · 1995 · 12 Songs. Deborah Cox Deborah Cox. R&B/Soul.

Deborah Cox is the self-titled debut album by Canadian recording artist of the same name. It was released in the United States on September 9, 1995 by Arista Records. Deborah Cox (born July 13, 1974) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. Born and raised in Toronto, Cox began performing on television commercials at age 12, and entered various talent shows in her teenage years before becoming a professional backing vocalist for Celine Dion. In 1994, she relocated to the United States and was signed to Arista Records by Clive Davis, releasing her self-titled debut album the following year.

The Promise is the fifth studio album by Canadian R&B singer. Deborah Cox. It was released on November 11, 2008 worldwide and marked her debut with Image Entertainment and Deco Recording Group. While her 2007 album Destination Moon was a jazz tribute, this one marks her return to R&B music six years after The Morning After (2002). The Promise debuted at number 106 on the US Billboard 200, number 14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and number 95 on the Canadian Albums Chart

Deborah Cox is the self-titled debut album by Canadian singer-songwriter Deborah Cox. Executive produced by Clive Davis, and featuring productions from R&B mainstays such as Babyface, Diane Warren, Darryl Simmons and Dallas Austin. A commercial and critical success, the album has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), for sales of over 500,000 units, and earned Cox a Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording at the 1996 Juno Awards

Like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, Deborah Cox straddles the line between soul and pop, appealing to adult contemporary and R&B fans in equal measures. She is a confident and stylish singer, but her self-titled debut is helped by considerably by the powerhouse producers work behind the scenes. Featuring tracks produced by Babyface, Dallas Austin, and Daryl Simmons among others, the record is filled with immaculately crafted dance-pop and ballads. Not all of the songs are up to the production standards, however.
