Album · 1999 · 17 Songs. For all of TLC’s foresight, though, no one could have known back then that Fanmail would be the last album that T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chilli would record together. Three years later, a tragic car crash in Honduras would take 30-year-old Left Eye’s life. But her spirit shines through in the music, and Fanmail’s message-our need to connect in an isolating world-rings true as ever. Fanmail TLC. R&B/Soul.

Redirected from FanMail (album)). FanMail is the third studio album by American girl group TLC. It was released on February 23, 1999, by LaFace Records and Arista Records. The title of the album is a tribute to their fans who sent them fan mail during their hiatus. FanMail debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling approximately 318,000 copies in its first week of release, and spent five weeks at number one.

FanMail is the third studio album to released by TLC. The album was highly anticipated by fans. It was scheduled for November 10, 1998 but got pushed back 3 months because they wanted it to be fully ready. It was their follow up to the massively successful album CrazySexyCool, which was released in 1994. It debuted at on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart, with 318,000 copies sold and remained at for 5 weeks.

TLC's 'FanMail' Turns 20: A Track-By-Track Retrospective With the Girl Group and Behind-the-Scenes Collaborators. The album, which turns 20 on Saturday (Feb. 23), aestheticized a digital world that was born after the turbulent events that the girl group went through during the five-year hiatus they took after releasing 1994’s Diamond-certified CrazySexyCool, still the best-selling . album by a girl group of all time.

Lyrics to "FanMail" song by TLC: Welcome We've dedicated our entire album cover To any person who has ever sent us fan mail This . .Welcome We've dedicated our entire album cover To any person who has ever sent us fan mail This is a journey into life, love And the future of music (fan mail) TLC would like to thank you For your support (fan mail) And just like you They get lonely too. Just like you I get lonely too Ahhhhhhhhh (fan mail) Ahhhhhhhhh (fan mail) Ahhhhhhhhh (fan mail) Just like you I get lonely too Ahhhhhhhhh (fan mail) Ahhhhhhhhh (fan mail) Ahhhhhhhhh (fan mail) Just like you I get lonely.

And initially, it may be disappointing to realize TLC doesn't forge new ground with FanMail, but after a few spins, it settles in that nobody else makes urban soul quite as engaging as this. Not that it was easy to make this record, as the head-spinning list of collaborators indicates. Almost ten producers worked on the record, all trying to replicate the easy, appealing sound of Crazysexycool. And "replicate" is the right word, since there are no new innovations on FanMail, apart from a few lifts from the Timbaland book of tricks.
