It's very rare I'll pick up a psychedelic album these days as the quality has gone down to nothing. Artists are using cookie cutter producton. Everybodys album sounds like everybody elses. Every compilation features the same shitty unreleased tunes. I decided after getting myself a sheed of blotter, why not grab a random psychedelic album. I was bored of repeating the shit I had, so I picked this up. As I type this, listening to the album again, slowling coming from from the LSD, I can still enjoy the music on a somewhat spirutual level. Which brings up the following question. Do you lucid dream? Have you ever flown in a lucid dream? Have you ever experianced astral projection? I have, and upon listening to this while tripping, it hit me. This felt like a lucid dream. Was I lucid? I couldn't tell. Of course not. I realized that upon coming down. However, listening to this album made me feel as if I was sucked into a lucid dream. One where I was conciouslly aware that I was dreaming, but had no control. Even now as the drug is nearly gone and the fatiuge arriving, I feel as if I'm floating with the music. Connected. So that brings me to the tracks. This album is titled 'Skypilot'. The artist name 'Aerolink'. For me, this whole CD just reminds me of lucid dreaming, and flying with complete freedom. I can close my eyes and picture myself flying endlessly over untouched mountains of Europe, as a tiny bug through the rainforests in South America avoiding the spider webs, across the harsh deserts in Africa, the rivers and acers and acers upon un touched Northern Canadian forests. It's a daydream. All hippie, drug induced tripping aside, I have to say I love this album. It's quite melotic and yet manages to keep its psychedelic side to it. Beautiful dark and light sounds echo through each track, as the simple bassline holds everything together like pillars of a bridge buried deep in the Earth. As most true psychedelic fans know, psy is going nowhere these days. It's become a trendy thing to do. Nothing is original, and this album isn't either. However, its the mood that it gives off that breaks it away from the conforming psychedelic trance dominating the market today. Skypilot is hit and miss. Some may love everything, some may hate the whole album, some will be selective and only like 2 out of the 8 tracks. Whether you are a trendy scene elitest and hate this album more then Hitler, or are somebody able to find beauty in any peice of art, give this a listen. It may or may not grab you in its powers and force your ass on the dance floor. And a short rule, listen stoned or don't listen at all!
