Passenger recorded Whispers II at the same time as recording Whispers, releasing it as an extension of the first. He released Whispers II on 20 April 2015 2016–17: Young as the Morning, Old as the Sea and The Boy Who Cried Wolf. On 2 May 2019, Passenger both announced and released a new album, entitled Sometimes It's Something, Sometimes It's Nothing at All. Whispers is the fifth studio album from British singer-songwriter Passenger. Whispers was met with a moderately positive reception from critics Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian gave praise to Rosenberg's "snaggle-toothed rasp" delivery throughout the record and the storytelling elements that invoke "characterful observations ("Bullets")" and "striking vignettes ("Riding to New York")".

Rosenberg - aka Passenger - will release "Whispers" June 10 via Nettwerk. Fans will get their first sampling of the new set when Passenger debuts "Scare Away the Dark" on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" March 28. The same song will be officially released as a single on April 1. It's already become a regular song in Rosenberg's live sets and features anti-technology lines like "we're all slowly dying in front of fucking computers.
