Over is the sixth studio album by the English singer and songwriter Peter Hammill, released on Charisma Records in April 1977. It was issued for the first time on CD on Virgin Records in the early 1990s, and was reissued again in a remastered version in 2006 with bonus tracks. The album details the break-up of a long-term relationship with a woman known as Alice.

There are some significant musical differences between this release and the English original too with Peter experimenting further in the role of sole.

It was the first Peter Gabriel album to be released on Real World Records. It is his second soundtrack and eighth album overall.

Since he was known as the most politically active member of Peter, Paul and Mary, some listeners might have expected Peter Yarrow's debut solo album to be the most successful, or least most ambitious, of the three debut solo LPs issued by the trio in the early '70s. Of those three records, it certainly is the one most in line with the uplifting socially conscious music often associated with the group's 1960s work, whether the lyrics are personal or political.

I read this with a teenager who is studying the Vikings right now, so she really got a kick out of this variety of stories from Erling the Bold, Big Peter and Little Peter, The Saga of Harald Hardrade, The Master Thief, and so on. All were interesting in their own right. This grouping is complex and lengthy, so it did take us the course of two days to complete, but as an English Lit major, she was impressed by the writing and the storyline.
