Also when the London Quartet later ventured to as rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia remained a fervor characteristic of the group. The molenwiekende guitarist Pete Townshend and Keith Moons superhuman drum game were the most in the musical characteristics of The who's rock sound. In combination with the intriguing bass lines by John Entwistle and Roger Daltrey's oerschreeuw created the group a unique sound. The group members together on an irregular basis, also recovered after Moon in 1978 died from an alcohol.
A fine compilation of 1965-73 BBC performances, the majority of the tracks hailing from 1965-67, although some are drawn from 1970 and 1973. As one of the best live bands ever, the Who as expected come through pretty well in the live-in-the-studio environment, although the arrangements usually stick close to the records. Most of the songs were done by the group for studio releases as well, but there are a few covers that they never put on their albums or singles at the time, making this essential for the fan.

Thanks to the BBC stranglehold over UK radio needle time for record airplay during the Sixties, Musicians Union regulations often required ‘live’ recordings for broadcast. While an annoyance for many groups and artists of the time, these historical artifacts (the ones that survived the BBC archive purges) are now a collector’s delight and provide an insight into The Who’s true musical abilities when forced to duplicate their recorded sound.

The songs are unique, since they were being performed "live. There isn't really any "extra input" from any group members except for Pete, but the music is great!
