this is yet another silver factory pressed cd of amazing who tracks from the 60s recorded for the bbc, of coarse this cd came out back in the early 90s before the official who bbc sessions cd/lp set was finally released in 2000, still what makes the boot versions better then the official release from 2000 is they all include.

Maximum BBC. Release Date. A most worthwhile find for the serious Who fan, comprising 27 tracks that the group recorded for the BBC between 1965 and 1970, the accent falling heavily on the 1965-67 period. Decent though not pristine sound and good performances, which usually don't deviate a great deal from the record, but are occasionally substantially different: Entwistle's bass, in particular, comes through much more strongly on some of the 1966-67 material.
The Who - Maximum BBC. . Scan submitted/created b. Simply blows away the early Who albums. Irrefutable proof that Kit Lambert (who may have been a great guy) was not much of a producer. The mix on these BBC performances is on fire! Y'know how Pete always insisted the band was better live than in the studio? Well, "Maximum BBC" is the best of both worlds. BTW this disc clocks in at a shade over 74:00. On 04 Apr 2002 at 18:36 CEST. A great set of rocking early Who material. A lot of this stuff was relicated on the official Live at the BBC release, but this disc uses no noise reduction (.

The two-part series on The Who continues. Before stadiums, concept albums and hotel destruction, The Who were a rhythm ‘n’ blues band. As difficult as it may be to imagine, if you saw The Who in ‘64, in-between dodging drumsticks and guitar splinters, you’d see four skinny white teenagers from West London tackling songs by James Brown, Smokey Robinson And The Miracles, and Martha And The Vandellas . In 2011, BBC Radio 6 Music launched The John Peel Lecture, a keynote speech given by a leading figure in music and/or broadcasting, at the network’s Radio Festival. Pete Townshend gave the inaugural lecture on the topic of the current state of music media. The BBC’s coverage of this year’s Glastonbury Festival will be presented live from Worthy Farm in Somerset by some of the BBC’s most well-known faces delivering unparalleled coverage across TV, Radio, Red Button and Digital platforms.
