Through a few early breaks in Chicago-based film productions, followed by extensive stints in theater and improvisational troupes, the Cusacks honed their acting skills and later embarked on distinguished careers in Hollywood. As part of a large and talented Irish Catholic family in the middle-class Chicago suburb of Evanston, siblings John and Joan Cusack were encouraged to pursue an interest in the arts.
