The discography of Pink Floyd, a British progressive rock band, consists of fifteen studio albums, three live albums, nine compilation albums, four box sets, five extended plays, and twenty-seven singles. Formed in 1965, Pink Floyd initially earned recognition for their psychedelic or space rock music, and, as they evolved, for their progressive rock music. They are known for philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative cover art, and elaborate live shows.
When it comes to Pink Floyd and especially this album, you either get it or you don't. You may not understand what the big deal is about this album, and if so, that's fine, since it's your personal opinion. If not, then it's 2 or 3. This album is so universelly loved, and no one really knows why. Speak To Me - Sets up the album perfectly with the cash register sounds from money, the laugh from Brain Damage and, of course, the heartbeat. Breathe (In The Air) - A calm and hypnotic track great lkap steel guitar and fantastic lyrics written by Waters and sung by Gilmour. On The Run - A song that really captures the stress of travel with it's fast paced drumming and the sounds though-out the song.

Pink Floyd‘s eternally popular song cycle has sold more than 15 million copies in the . since its release on March 1st, 1973, and more than 45 million units worldwide. As Waters told Rolling Stone in 2011, Dark Side was the first that was genuinely thematic and genuinely about something. And as artists like Radiohead and Flaming Lips (both of whom have been profoundly influenced by Dark Side) can attest, the album’s music and lyrics still hold up beautifully today. Here are 10 things you might not know about Dark Side of the Moon.
In 1969, Pink Floyd made a soundtrack album to a French movie, More, by Iranian director Barbet Schroeder (who later came to New York and directed the original version of Single White Female). More is based on the diary of a friend of Schroeder, and the story is heartbreaking. As with the other early Pink Floyd albums, Norman Hurricane Smith of EMI produced the album, and he was a real hands-on producer. I saw Pink Floyd perform Cymbeline, a song off this album, to a crowd of about 65 people (no one in the USA knew who Pink Floyd were at that time) at the Eastown Theater in Detroit in 1971, and Roger Waters introduced the song. I think this is an LCD trip Syd Barrett was having at that time.
This was my 5th Pink Floyd 2016 Reissue/Remaster vinyl AlbumI had bought because the other four were absolutely perfect. The Wall" was exceptional as well. The sound is absolutely incredible and packaging was exactly as it was in 1979 and if I dare say so, even better quality. While I understand that this is due to a lack of storage space, they're separated exactly between "Goodbye Cruel World" (track 13 on the 1st disc) and "Hey You" (track 14, or 1, on the second disc, depending on how you view the numbering).
Your album by album guide to how Pink Floyd went from English eccentrics to the biggest progressive rock band of al. A belated fourth phase came in 2015, 20 years after many had assumed that Gilmour had wound up the band, with the release of The Endless River, a record that the guitarist has said definitively marks the end of the Pink Floyd journey. Throughout it all, Pink Floyd have maintained a ‘corporate’ identity while remaining anonymous individually; it’s doubtful whether you would recognise a member of the band on the street –something which has simply added to their enigma. Essential (classics). Dark Side Of The Moon (Harvest, 1973).
