We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll is a compilation album by Black Sabbath, originally released on 1 December 1975 in the UK and then on 3 February 1976 in the . When Black Sabbath signed with NEMS, the label which would release their 1975 album Sabotage in the UK, NEMS acquired the band's back catalogue and wasted little time compiling this release. Authorized without the band's awareness by their previous manager, Patrick Meehan, the band would make no money whatsoever from the release.

The first and most famous Black Sabbath Best o. .album, We Sold Our Souls To Rock and Roll was a cash-in greatest hits album produced by NEMS, when the band signed with the label for the release of their sixth album Sabotage. The album was compiled without the band’s knowledge or even consent, as the members of Black Sabbath did not even know it’s existence until fans started showing up at concerts asking the band to autograph the vinyl copies of the album.
