It is the only Boredoms major release to lack a full album video on youtube. It's track four where Wow2 will lose people. The endless fucking energy just ends with the plodding Pop Can. It's primarily carried by, I want to say Yoshikawa. They're just being silly, and I used to really hate this track.

Like many another experimental act, Boredoms become a little less rough around the edges as their sound progresses through the years. Wow 2 is our last stop in Boredoms 101, and one I chose for two reasons. For one, it’s a live record, and one that contains highlights from Boredoms’ earlier years, but also shows off the added energy that the band’s live performance brings to these tracks. It’s also a lot easier to find than the band’s first three studio records, and can be streamed on this site with ease, making it a better fit for listeners who aren’t sure if Boredoms are really for them yet. It’s a great listen, and a perfect way to decide if the band’s earlier work is worth a listen for you.

The album sets Boredoms' standard: sporadic ideas and musical incidents crashing into each other like a punch-drunk party spun ecstatically out of control. But there's one nagging problem: Yoshikawa's drumming. The first album was not really musical because Yoshikawa didn't know how to play drums," Eye later explains to Browbeat. It was great but it wasn't musical," chips in Yoshimi. The flurry of activity continues: Wow 2, a full-length album recorded by John Zorn and Martin Bisi, is released on Zorn's Avant label. Public Bath releases UFO or Die's Cassettetape Superstar album in North America. Anal by Anal is reissued on CD (by Japan's SSE) with new cover art by Eye. The band also launches the ambitious Super Roots series with WEA, and both WEA and Reprise release the first volume.
