A documentary about the influential Chicago label and store Wax Trax! Records has been announced. A soundtrack album will also be released, featuring rare and unreleased tracks from Ministry, Revolting Cocks, KMFDM, and others.

Wax Trax! Records is an American independent record label based in Chicago. It began as a record shop in Denver, Colorado, opened by life partners Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher, who sold the store in 1978 and moved to Chicago. In November of that year, they opened a store under the same name in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. During the 1980s and 1990s, the accompanying record label became a presence on the new wave and punk rock scenes in the city, and an outlet for European bands

All of the productions are kind of magic and have been supplied world-wide by fine artists from: Estonia, South-Africa, Germany and Iceland. Notes

A promotional Wax Trax!/Play It Again Sam USA video sampler distributed to nightclubs and music video channels in 1989 and 1990. No copies were sold commercially, although the label did carry it in its mail order catalog.

Came with a WAX TRAX! promotional sticker.

My copy has a pink insert. The Wax Trax! logo is in the lower right and there is a "2" in the upper right. The back has the video list typed out with a typewriter and a badly Xeroxed photo of a person and sparks flying. The spine says, "WAXTRAXCOMPILATION 2" vertically. The tape itself does not have a label.

I would like to add a correction to the notes:Living in the Chicago area and visiting the Wax Trax store on Lincoln ave I was able to purchase this video from the glass display case and sold regularly at the store back in 1990. It is a good chance that the VHS was only a promo at first but sold in the stores. The tape quality, even when new was poor. The duplication of the tapes very not top quality in video. Even for VHS back then. The Wax Trax intro menus on the tape even have tracking waves and issues. My tape was purchased new and only has been played a handful of times. This week I moved the VHS to DVD for my personal collection. The videos play fine based on the quality offered. Many of these bands are gone now or the ones that are still around offer better viewable videos you can buy on DVD. I never seen the mail order on this but, I could be wrong. One extra note, in the video "And This Is What The Devil Does" you see a woman walking out of a stickered door to the outside. This is the old Wax Trax store from Lincoln ave that has long been gone. The Front 242 video has the same video director as Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" and U2 and many others. TGT you get to see Richard 23 from Front 242 acting like an little kid jumping around and dancing badly.

I also have this VHS... plays fine, transferred to dvd without audio/visual probs, hence quality's great so not sure what happened to your copy, sounds like bad luck though :( ...at the time i wrote this reply my earlier comment wasn't visible, so wrote it again, then the earlier comment suddenly reappeared [weird] ...but discogs wont let you delete comments so has to stay here as a duplicate.
