In 1994, TVT released Black Box - Wax Trax! Records: The First 13 Years under the Wax Trax!, a 3-CD box set compilation of the label's biggest hits. However, due to licensing issues stemming from the label's bankruptcy, the set did not contain any material by Front 242, even though the band's single "Headhunter" had been the label's best-selling record to date. Black Box: WaxTrax! Records - The First 13 Years - Various Artists". Richard 23 quit in 1986, after falling out with Jourgensen over his and Adrian Sherwood's remix of the song "You Often Forget". Notes

Anthology of material from the back-catalog of Wax Trax! Records, a sub-label of TVT since 1993. It is mostly industrial, but also has some housey stuff reflecting both Chicago and European influences.

This release is the non-limited edition version, which is packaged in a thick, cardstock box with a 76 page booklet that does a quick skim through the history of the Wax Trax! label, not to mention featuring several pictures, some previously never seen. Discs are housed in individual standard size solid-black CD cases.

Track 1-1 is previously unreleased.

Cataclsymic! Would be a fitting term for the wave of Undrgrd. that preceded, and post dated this comp. I have waited till today to purchase this Box since I first heard it from Legendary local DJ Spice in the early 90's. No doubt, it is TIME for a Redux of it. Exploiting the best of what it took to shock and awe dancefloor's packed into one tight package, with a fantastic liner note book detailing all the band's and song's herein contained. The weirdness is in the mix no doubt, but a smile and a beat was sometimes all it took to make a track wrk back then, simple as that. The french Quarter in New Orleans had many establishment's playing Gothic and Industrial etc. Djing there off and on esp. during Mardi Gras through the year's you would get stuck at a joint overnight and sleep in back rooms only to find scattered collections of vinyl, mostly beat up and dirty with lots of "Wax Trax" and other assorted goodies. So this Comp. is beyond Monitary worth, it is a Museum piece, hehehe, no, what it really is, is a mere telescopic view of a juke joint bathroom in some dark basement, ala Chi Town or N.O. late 80's...
