The Best of Tex Perkins: Songs from My Black Cattle Dog is a greatest hits album by Australian singer-songwriter Tex Perkins. The album includes solo tracks as well as The Cruel Sea and Tex, Don and Charlie tracks and was released in August 2009. The album was supported by a national tour. The title Songs from My Black Cattle Dog is a creative blunder when someone misheard Tex saying songs from "my back catalogue".

Tex Perkins (born Gregory Stephen Perkins on 28 December 1964 in Darwin, Australia) is an Australian singer-songwriter who fronts the Australian rock-band The Cruel Sea, but has also performed with the Beasts of Bourbon, Thug, James Baker Experience, The Butcher Shop, Salamander Jim, and Tex, Don and Charlie. He has also released many solo records. In 1997, a portrait of Tex Perkins by artist Bill Leak won the Packing Room award at the Archibald Prize. 1995 saw the release of the hugely successful Three Legged Dog album, which won the group another ARIA award.
