Carl Lee Perkins (April 9, 1932 – January 19, 1998) was an American singer-songwriter who recorded most notably at the Sun Studio, in Memphis, beginning in 1954. Amongst his best-known songs are 'Blue Suede Shoes', 'Matchbox' and 'Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby'. According to Charlie Daniels, "Carl Perkins' songs personified the rockabilly era, and Carl Perkins' sound personifies the rockabilly sound more so than anybody involved in it, because he never changed

Among the great early rock & roll albums, Dance Album, Carl Perkins' first LP for Sun, tends to get the short end of the stick. There's a reason for that. Sam Phillips rushed the album out after Perkins left Sun for Columbia in 1958, which was two years after "Blue Suede Shoes" was a hit, so Perkins not only didn't have a big single in the charts - "Pink Pedal Pushers," his last for Sun, stalled at 91 on the pop charts - but the label released it more as. a cash-in than anything, and it never made much of an impact on the charts.

Carl Perkins (August 16, 1928 – March 17, 1958) was an American jazz pianist. Perkins was born in Indianapolis but worked mainly in Los Angeles. He is best known for his performances with the Curtis Counce Quintet, which also featured Harold Land, Jack Sheldon and drummer Frank Butler. He also performed with Tiny Bradshaw, Big Jay McNeely in 1948-49, and played dates with Miles Davis in 1950.
