About Idlewild album. Album Idlewild (2006). Labels LaFace Records, Zomba Label Group.

Idlewild (Outkast album). Idlewild is the sixth studio album by American hip hop duo OutKast. It was released on August 22, 2006, by LaFace Records and served as the soundtrack album to the duo's musical film of the same name, which was released that same month. The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 196,000 copies in its first week.

Outkast have never made the same album twice, and each new one requires that you go to the mountain your own damn self. Most contemporary rap albums are indigestible because they’re too damn long, but Big Boi and Andre 3000's full-lengths require effort. Their handful of big pop moments aside, Outkast have never been about single-serving hooks. On Idlewild, they’re once again sitting next to each other at soccer games, but this record is still the product of two brains contained in butting heads. It’s gotta stick in your craw when your farewell ends up your ticket to pop immortality and finally gets studio cats to greenlight the movie you’ve been sitting on for nearly a decade.

Outkast (stylized as OutKast) is an American hip hop duo formed in 1992 in East Point, Georgia, composed of Atlanta-based rappers André "André 3000" Benjamin (formerly known as Dré) and Antwan "Big Boi" Patton. The duo achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, helping to popularize Southern hip hop while experimenting with diverse genres such as funk, psychedelia, jazz, and techno.

Released April 22, 2006. 1. Intro (Idlewild) (Ft. Janelle Monáe) Lyrics. The Cab Calloway-inspired Mighty O was the first single released from the project followed by the solo singles from Big Boi ( Morris Brown ) and André 3000 ( Idlewild Blue (Don'tchu Worry ‘Bout Me) ) The album debuted at on the Billboard 200 and achieved platinum status.

Idlewild (Outkast album), Idlewild is the sixth and final studio album by American hip hop duo Outkast It was released on August 22, 2006, by LaFace Records and served a.

Along the way, OutKast's first movie took on an entirely different shape, from Aquemini to Idlewild, and the duo attained enough star power to gain the support of HBO and Universal. After a series of delays with its soundtrack, Idlewild reached theaters in August 2006. Set in the prohibition era, Big Boi plays a speakeasy owner, while Dré is the relatively introverted piano-playing son of a mortician.
