Stankonia, OutKast’s fourth studio album, was released on October 31, 2000. It was critically acclaimed by critics and artists alike, producing three iconic singles: . B, Ms. Jackson and So Fresh, So Clean. The album was recorded in their Atlanta studio, Stankonia Studios, and featured production from Earthtone III and Organized Noise. André 3000 spoke on the convenience of owning their own studio, saying: You can sit there and fuck with just a kick and a snare all day long if you want t. ou’re not working on the clock.
On the intro to Stankonia-their fourth album, a thrill-pushing auricular splattering of mindfunks and ideascapes-they mimicked those copying them by playfully reinterpreting the Atlanta bounce that had been spreading as the distraction of babies. Big Boi exhaled smoke and lamented, Niggas ain’t even from the A-Town. Identity and location-and defining and observing the two on their own terms-have always been key with OutKast. Those are weighty statements, but OutKast was OutKast-singular, inimitable, and unpredictable.
Stankonia is the fourth studio album by American hip hop duo OutKast. It was released on October 31, 2000, by La Face Records. The album was recorded in the duo's recently purchased Atlanta recording facility Stankonia Studios, which allowed for fewer time and recording constraints, and featured production work from Earthtone III (a production team consisting of Outkast and Mr. DJ) and Organized Noise.
Stankonia was OutKast's second straight masterstroke, an album just as ambitious, just as all-over-the-map, and even hookier than its predecessor. With producers Organized Noize playing a diminished role, Stankonia reclaims the duo's futuristic bent.
In a lot of ways, OutKast is that perfect balance, daring enough to bring in new crowds with every new album, conscious enough to appeal to what most mainstream listeners assume hip-hop is. Forward looking, yet, able to use the past to its benefit. Gasoline Dreams’ follows a liquid-sexual introduction, completely contradicting the opening. As far as mainstream success goes, Stankonia is not short of it. ‘Mrs. were huge hits, and once again, allude to the captivating variation of OutKast.
Being the first Outkast record I've listened to, I can't say I'm disappointed! With it's astounding collection of beats and very memorable bars from Big Boy and Andre 3000, 'Stankonia' is an interesting and eclectic listening experience from the Georgia hip-hop duo. Color: Black FAV TRACKS: Ms. Jackson, ?, Gasoline Dreams, Gangsta Shit, Humble Mumble, Snappin' & Trappin', . LEAST FAV: Spaghetti Junction.
