King Charles (born Charles Costa, 22 December 1987) is a singer-songwriter from West London. Charles plays the guitar, piano, and cello. He is also a classically trained singer and performer. He began writing songs when he was 17, and in 2009, he won the International Songwriting Competition by unanimous vote

2016 release, the second album from the British singer/songwriter born Charles Costa. According to King Charles, Gamble For A Rose is "the album I should have made five years ag. Charles and old friend Marcus Mumford began demoing songs and decamped to a farm near Exeter with mattresses pushed up against the walls to make vocal booths and old friends to jam with including Charlie Fink and Tom Hobden (Noah and the Whale) and Winston Marshall (Mumford & Sons).

Four years on, and the King is finally back, and with Gamble For A Rose, it seems that Costa is attempting to address some of his own personal misgivings about LoveBlood. There was a sense that, despite being fairly well received, the album was not the album he had hoped to make, being too glossy and polished to accurately reflect him as an artist. A move of record label and a change of management were required, with Marcus Mumford coming in to produce the new album. mumford’s influence on the record is hard to ignore.
