Description

Third full length album released by finnish Doom Metal band Reverend Bizarre

III: So Long Suckers is the third and final double album by Finnish doom metal band Reverend Bizarre. The duration on the first CD (66:06) is not coincidental. The first draft at mastering the CD was adjusted by a few seconds to produce the three 6's in the duration. The lyric "Christs may come and Christs may go but Caesar is forever" is lifted from the pamphlet Might Is Right by Ragnar Redbeard.

The album, III So Long Suckers, was recorded in the first half of 2007, and released in August of that year. The band's last concerts were played during the autumn and winter of 2006 culminating in a final performance in Turku. Two of the band's EPs, Harbinger of Metal and Return to the Rectory, actually exceed 60 minutes in length.

III: So Long Suckers. Produced by Reverend Bizarre. Engineered and mixed by Danil Venho and Earl of Void, with a little help from Joona Lukala. Sessions were held in Red House from 7th of February to 2nd of May, 2007 . The drums for "Anywhere Out of This World" were recorded by Niko Nighspirit in Red House 2004/05 . during the Crush the Insects sessions.

Reverend Bizarre are somewhat an anomaly in doom metal. Their music is epic, traditional doom, generally based around incredibly long songs, and very well liked. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad thing said about them. Otherwise, III: So Long Suckers is a dry and flavorless album to listen to. Now, the album is not completely bad.

Album by Reverend Bizarre. Disc One. Disc Two. One Last Time. Anywhere Out Of This World. Untitled (also known as "Mallorca").

Reverend Bizarre are masters at what they do, and create the perfect doom atmosphere. The sound is gloomy and haunting, injected with a generous amount of sludge. Echoing the efforts of earlier acts (. Sabbath, Pentagram, Cathedral etc), Reverend don't ever become clones of their influences, but over their 12-year-long career have crafted their own sound and tone.

One of my favorite pieces in my collection. Beautiful heavy-weight set, records were in perfect condition, plus a poster a of Mauno Koivisto eating breakfast with an orangutang (and a photo of Rev aswell but who cares)! One of the best doom-albums.

Quite possibly the "heaviest" album, both figuratively & literally (FOUR record box set!), of all times! DOOM metal BLISS
