Time 'n' Place is the second studio album by Kero Kero Bonito. It was preceded by the singles "Only Acting", "Time Today", and "Make Believe" and was released on 1 October 2018. The sophomore full-length from Kero Kero Bonito, Time ‘n’ Place is an album ineffably shaped by the subconscious. Lead singer and chief lyricist Sarah Bonito (who was raised in the suburbs on the Japanese island Hokkaido) found herself rattled in recent years by recurring images.

Time 'n' Place sounds transitional as if Kero Kero Bonito are working their way into something that's more sustainable than the often wild, sometimes too-cute experiments of their past. Anyways, Time n' Place is my go to for "sad music. Everyone has their sad music album. Maybe it's A Crow Looked at Me. Maybe it's Have A Nice Life. Maybe it's even Ballads 1 is you're soft like that.

Between Bonito Generation and Time 'n' Place, Kero Kero Bonito experienced losses ranging from the deaths of family members and pets to the destruction of childhood homes. To cope, they gave themselves room to grow and heal, and their second album delivers a mix of cathartic rock and imaginative synth pop. Changes like the ones KKB underwent can be jarring, and Time 'n' Place reflects that by bookending its songs with two of the band's biggest departures.

Kero Kero Bonito have surprise-released their sophomore album Time ‘n’ Place today, Oct. 1, through Polyvinyl Records. The album is the band’s first on Polyvinyl, with whom they recently signed. The release comes just as Kero Kero Bonito prepare to embark on a world tour. The album is informed by subconscious memories of childhood. Lead singer and chief lyricist Sarah Bonito found herself rattled in recent years by recurring images in her dreams: a water park from when she was little, a hallway in her primary school, according to a press release. She also received a picture from her brother.
