The album is driving throughout, and I’d say each song is enjoyable, despite becoming a little samey here and there. When they’re really on the money, Victorius show plenty of promise, and I’m sure if you have a love for power metal these songs will have you smiling throughout. Fun and energetic, applied to a tried and true formula, Victorius won’t change any minds on the genre; for those who love it though, I’d certainly recommend this. I'm not the official Victorius biographer so the history lesson stops here, but what I will say about Victorius is that the faction made "The Awakening" a total knockout. Victorius takes bits and cues from many of their legendary countrymen in this forty-eight minute maelstrom of intensity and passion.

Victorius is a German-based 5-piece Power Metal band founded in 2004, and after making a few line-up changes, The Awakening is their sophomore release. The Germans (Helloween in particular) developed and coined the Power Metal concept, and Victorius shows again that if you want good, raw, in-your-face speed with technical precision that doesn’t compromise melody or catchiness, then you’re best bet is to look to the founding country to find the best in the industry.
