The Raftsmen was a Canadian folk music group active through the early and mid-1960s. Along with The Travellers, the group was one of the most prominent and popular Canadian groups of the time. Its recordings for RCA (RCA Camden in the United States) sold well and the group's 1963 album recorded in Montreal, A Night at Le Pavillon, went on to be considered a seminal live folk performance
The Raftsmen was initially formed by Louis Leroux, Martin Overland and Marvin Burke. Overland had been the lead ic arranger for the 1950s Montreal trio, "The Strangers", along with his sister Arlene on claves and drummer Leon Segal. The band made a number of recordings for RCA (RCA Camden in the United States), and performed in both Miami and Montreal in 1962. In 1963 they also recorded an album in Montreal, A Night at Le Pavillon, based on a live folk performance. That year the band performed on a CTV Television folk music special . A Night At Le Pavillon, RCA LPM/LSP-2677. On Target (Raftsmen III), Banff RBS 1279. The Raftsmen, Rodeo SRLP 7116.

Pavillon is in the perfect location in Paris. Its in a local's neighborhood that's hip, interesting, and beautiful. I personally love not being in the mess of all the tourist traps when I stay somewhere so I would definitely recommend this to some one looking for a similar experience. The hotel is breathtaking from outside where it frames a gorgeous courtyard with its vine covered walls. The staff are incredibly helpful, cheery, and extremely proficient in English. We were put in an ornately designed sweet that had a spacious living room and bedroom. It was quieter but you can hear crashing and banging all hours of the night from people closing and opening their doors in this hotel. Furthermore, people eating in the courtyard adds to the noise levels which sometimes went on until midnight. Overall, we had a great experience and was happy we stayed here but wouldn't come back.
