Somewhere in England is the ninth studio album by English musician George Harrison, released in June 1981 by Dark Horse Records. The album was recorded as Harrison was becoming increasingly frustrated with the music industry. The album's making was a long one, during which conflicts with Warner Bros.

Somewhere In England ‎(LP, Album). Dark Horse Records, Dark Horse Records, Dark Horse Records, Dark Horse Records. Wb 56 870, dak 3492, dh 56 870, dhk 3492. For someone who helped organize the Concert For Bangladesh, George has always been a sociopolitician at heart, and SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND still allows for those opportunities to preach ever so slightly. Writing's On The Wall" seems to have more cynicism in its veins, as if George is throwing up his hands in defeat & that the world is in too much a state of disrepair to be saved.

As an investigation goes horribly wrong, William and Thomas must run for their lives. It's a little known fact that back in the 1920's there was a large tentacled creature roaming the streets of England. William and Thomas have been investigating the odd case in Somewhere in England, 1928.

Somewhere in England was actually slated for release in October, 1980. That, at any rate, is how the artist describes the wrangle in the revised album’s opening salvo, Blood from a Clone (which, along with All Those Years Ago, Teardrops and That Which I Have Lost, replaced the originally slated Tears of the World, Sat Singing, Flying Hour and Lay His Head ). Most incongruous of all are two compositions by Hoagy Carmichael, who was penning hits on Tin Pan Alley before Hari Georgeson’s present incarnation even got under way. In his book, I Me Mine, Harrison recalls having been turned on to music at the age of four by Hong Kong Blues, which is presumably why it, along with Baltimore Oriole, is included here.

I remember, I remember, The house where I was born, The little window where the sun. Came peeping in at morn; He never came a wink too soon, Nor brought too long a day, But now, I often wish the night. The tree is living yet! I remember, I remember, Where I was used to swing, And thought the air must rush as fresh. To swallows on the wing; My spirit flew in feathers then, That is so heavy now, And summer pools could hardly cool. The fever on my brow! I remember, I remember, The fir trees dark and high; I used to think their slender tops.

He had often dreamed of retiring in England and had planned to settle down in the country. He had no sooner returned than he bought a fine house and went to live there. Almost immediately he began to complain about the weather, for even though it was still summer, it rained continually and it was often bitterly cold. After so many years of sunshine, Harrison got a shock. He acted as if he had never lived in England before. In the end, it was more than he could bear. He had hardly had time to settle down when he sold the house and left the country.
