Description

Pink Fairies second Roundhouse reunion of 1975 - July 13th. The bill featured Pink Fairies, Stray, Radar Favourites and .

Live at the Roundhouse 1975 is a 1982 album of a 1975 concert by the UK underground group Pink Fairies. A one-off reunion concert featuring all five previous members of the group was organised by Ted Carroll, head of Chiswick Records. At the time of this gig, Rudolph was also playing bass for Hawkwind whilst Wallis was playing guitar for Motörhead.

Live at the Roundhouse was recorded in 1975, at a concert the Pink Fairies gave in London which featured all five members who had ever played in the band. The sound quality is impressive, especially for the mid-70s, and the band is in peak form, with guitarists Larry Wallis and Paul Rudolph trading fiery leads and the twin drums of Russell Hunter and Twink driving the band. Considering it is such a landmark recording in the band's history then, it is rather mystifying why the album is so short and so padded with unnecessary covers

To get the chronology right, the Live At The Roundhouse album first came out on Big Beat in 1982, but was originally recorded at the famous engine shed in July 1975. Then in 1978 drummer Twink cut a 12''' . with some friends, which came out on Chiswick Records and produced the wonderfully mixed genre 'Psychedelic Punkeroo'. Superb Pink Fairies CD to have, one of those two-on-one releases. First segment is a five song, 45-minute one off reunion gig that the Fairies played with the original line-up in 1975. The sound mix on "City Kids", "Waiting For The Man", "Lucille","Uncle Harry's Last Freakout" and "Going Down" simply couldn't be better. The next six tunes labeled as 'Previously Unreleased' is so-so, with the best track being "Waiting For The Lightning To Strike"(would make a good Alice Cooper tune).

Pink Fairies are an English rock band initially active in the London (Ladbroke Grove) underground and psychedelic scene of the early 1970s. They promoted free music, drug use, and anarchy, and often performed impromptu gigs and other agitprop stunts, such as playing for nothing outside the gates at the Bath and Isle of Wight pop festivals in 1970, as well as appearing at Phun City, the first Glastonbury and many other free festivals including Windsor and Trentishoe. Pink Fairies at Glastonbury Fayre in 1971.
