One Chord To Another is the third album from Canadian rock band Sloan, and is the album where the band finally found its trademark sound. It was also the band’s last-ditch effort at success, following a rough patch that involved a major American label dropping them after failing to market their previous - and wildly successful, at least in Canada - album, Twice Removed. The Onion’s AV Club had this to say: One Chord To Another has rightfully earned its place as a triumphant album, but it still never quite managed to break into the mainstream. After fighting many external obstacles to find its.

On the group's previous album, Sloan had refashioned itself as a power pop band, often with terrific results, but on One Chord to Another the songwriting blossoms. Filled with catchy, jangling riffs and memorable melodies, the record is a tour de force of hooks and harmonies, filled with exceptionally strong songs and forceful performances, which give the record a firm, rocking foundation. Few power pop records of the '90s are as infectious and memorable as One Chord to Another.

Album · 1996 · 12 Songs. A true power-pop gem, One Chord to Another showcases Sloan's ability to meld melodic songcraft with scrappy punk energy for a dozen breathless tracks. From the lo-fi chaos of "The Good in Everyone" and the shaggy rocker "D Turns to G," to the gentle strum and handclaps of "The Lines You Amend," to the tart trumpet blasts of "Everything You've Done Wrong," these cuts sparkle with crisp guitar hooks and clever lyrics. Sloan's four singer/songwriters are all at the top of their game here. One Chord to Another Sloan.
