In reality, they had 3 more years until this eventuality. End Hits is a manic addition to Fugazi’s catalogue, beginning to zero in on the themes of corporate greed and police brutality that had been introduced in early albums like 1991’s Steady Diet of Nothing and 1990’s Repeater but abandoned on the more introspective albums marking the middle of Fugazi’s lifespan. Their final album, The Argument, would take End Hits’s themes and experiments, and run screaming into the night with them.
End Hits is the fifth studio album by the American post-hardcore band Fugazi. It was recorded at Inner Ear Studios from March 1997 to September 1997 and produced by Don Zientara & Fugazi. It was released on April 28, 1998 through Dischord Records. The album saw the band continuing with and expanding upon the in-studio experimentation of their previous album Red Medicine. Due to the title, rumors began circulating at the time that it was to be their last release.
Fugazi are sometimes over shadowed by their political stances. For example they only charge 1. 0 for CD's, they don't charge more than five dollars for their shows, and do many benefit concerts. Hopefully they will be remembered more their music in the future. It's a love it or hate it type of album
Fugazi is the second studio album by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion, released in 1984. Produced by Nick Tauber, it was recorded between November 1983 and February 1984 at various studios and was the first to feature drummer Ian Mosley, following the dismissal of the band's original drummer Mick Pointer.
Album · 1998 · 13 Songs. End Hits feels like a sequel to 1995’s Red Medicine, refining that album's experimental ethos into a focused attack. No Surprise starts as a brittle strut but builds into a heavy, psych-washed groove that yields a molten guitar solo straight out of the ‘70s classic-rock playbook. That element of unpredictability is ever-present; just when the steamrolling shuffle of Break is set to explode, the song takes a lounge-pop detour, while Arpeggiator threads hypnotic guitar curlicues around an Autobahn-bound thrust.
Genre: Post-Hardcore. The first track reminds me of Repeater, which I still think is their best album all around. Place Position is great. Overall a lot of great Fugazi music on here. Often imitates, never duplicated. Or consider a donation? End of year lists. Due to the album's title, many speculated that it would be the band's last release. Although the title refers to, literally, end-of-the-album drum hits by drummer Brendan Canty that occur after the last song on the album, "F/D" ends. These drum hits are actually outtakes from the bridge-section of the track "No Surprise," the fourth song on the album Recording.
End Hits is a minor blebby for Fugazi - there are some great moments, however, so it's nothing to disown the band for. The epileptic "Lust for Life"-style "Five Corporations" has the riffs and rage, with Ian MacKaye taking the music industry to task for being the slow, incestuously festering beast that it i. Break" is a classic Fugazi album opener, displaying a tightness that only comes with years of playing together. Foreman's Dog" starts off with some classic rock riff, but quickly delves into a mid-pace display of tricky guitar lines. It also features the best example of their contrasting dual vocal stylings.
