Southern rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd recorded "Free Bird" in 1973 and it featured on their debut album "(Pronounced 'lĕh-'nérd 'skin-'nérd)". Released as a single in November 1974, "Free Bird" became the band's second Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 1975, where it peaked at No. 19. A live version of the song also reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977, peaking at No. 38. Special thanks to James at the Cowboymod Emporium for his help in the making of this video

Free Bird", or "Freebird", is a power ballad performed by American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd. The song was first featured on the band's debut album in 1973 and has been included on subsequent albums, including the unfaded-ending version of the original recording (featured on Skynyrd's Innyrds).

Forty years later, we still can’t shake off Lynyrd Skynyrd’s debut album, (Pronounced ‘l?h-‘nérd ‘skin-‘nérd), all thanks to four of its songs: Gimme Three Steps, Simple Man, Tuesday’s Gone, and Free Bird. But really, just Free Bird. The common douche bag practice of screaming FREE BIRD! at concerts has been around for what seems like ages. This dichotomy inspired me to find the very best and worst Free Bird covers out there (listed here from worst to best). So, we must be travelin’ on now.
Like "Free Bird," "Tuesday's Gone" takes its good ol' time working to a big finish. Its ending isn't as climatic as "Free Bird"'s, but with Van Zant, an organ and multiple guitars angling for space, it's nearly as gorgeous. 7. "Gimme Back My Bullets". From: 'Gimme Back My Bullets' (1976). The opening and title song of the band's fourth album is a bit of good-ol'-boy machismo wrapped in a snaky riff supplied by guitarist Gary Rossington. The band's debut album is filled with classics (four of its tracks made our list of the Top 10 Lynyrd Skynyrd Songs). This is one of their most playful cuts - Van Zant's swipe at masculine pride. After he's caught "cuttin' the rug" with some other dude's girl, he dashes for the door instead of fighting for his, and the girl's, honor.
The album version runs 9:08, with the last lyric uttered at 4:55 ("fly high, free bird, yeah"). Those last four minutes comprise perhaps the most famous instrumental passage in rock history. Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd was Lynyrd Skynyrd's first album. They gave it the title because they knew people would not be able to pronounce their name. Jimmy from Knox, TnFree Bird is the best song ever recorded "FLY FREE BIRD FLY,REST IN PEACE RONNIE,STEVE AND CASSIE". Alex from Chicago, IlI got into rock music by listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zepplin in the 1970's and they were indeed the 2 greatest bands ever. Free Bird is indeed the greatest song ever written on this planet.
