Secret Agent is an album by Chick Corea recorded and released in 1978. This album is one of three that Corea released in 1978, along with The Mad Hatter and Friends in what was called an "almost impossibly active year". 1978 also featured the release of live albums An Evening with Herbie Hancock & Chick Corea: In Concert and RTF Live: The Complete Concert (4LP Box Set) with Return to Forever. All pieces are composed by Chick Corea unless otherwise noted.

Corea's keyboards are generally soft in tone here, and though that's a by-product of the instruments he chooses (Fender Rhodes, Mini-Moog), the compositions take the softness a step further by building arrangements around Moran's airy voice (notably "Drifting") or exploring the "voices" of various instruments on a trombone/keyboard dialogue like "Mirage

Secret Agent builds on the final RTF incarnation, featuring a horn section and string trio on most tracks. But while the sonic palette is similar to The Leprechaun and The Mad Hatter, Secret Agent plays more as a collection of discrete songs, freed from high concept. Chick Corea: Secret Agent by John Kelman, published on June 26, 2006. 1978 was an almost impossibly active year for Chick Corea. Over the previous two years the keyboardist had moved away from the guitar-powered Romantic Warrior-era Return to Forever towards the larger, horn-driven incarnation responsible for 1977's Musicmagic. While he'd dissolve that version of the group after one tour and a live album, it was in many ways a consolidation, reflecting the growing interest in orchestration that began with 1975's The Leprechaun.

Return to Forever is a jazz fusion album by Chick Corea, simultaneously functioning as the debut album by the band of the same name. Unlike later albums by the group, it was released by the ECM label and produced by Manfred Eicher. The album was not released in the USA until 1975. The record is often considered one of the classic albums in electric jazz. Light as a Feather is the second studio album by jazz fusion band Return to Forever led by pianist Chick Corea.

Secret Agent follows a by-now familiar pattern: a costume change, a re-shuffling of the cast, and a mix of songs that are individually impressive but collectively less so. The record ranges from life-some Latin jazz ("Central Park") to haunting Vangelis-like instrumentals ("Bagatelle with Chick Corea adding and subtracting instruments as the arrangements dictate. Only the familiar sound of the players from song to song holds the album together; otherwise, as the aptly titled "Fickle Funk" demonstrates, Corea isn't interested in trying the same thing twice.
