The Story in Your Eyes" is a 1971 hit single by the English rock band the Moody Blues. Written by the band's guitarist Justin Hayward, it was first released as a single with "My Song" on the B-side, and then on the 1971 album Every Good Boy Deserves Favour shortly after. The Story in Your Eyes" was the Moody Blues' final single to feature the Mellotron as it would be supplanted by the chamberlin, a similar instrument in time for their next album, Seventh Sojourn.

Also this song is probably on my Top Five of the Moody Blues songs - and there really are so many wonderful songs to choose from! The early tracks, which include classics like "Tuesday Afternoon," "Question," and "The Story in Your Eyes," as well as their highest-charting single, the dreamy "Nights in White Satin," aptly display their late-'60, early-'70s sound. This set also includes their late-'80s hits which contained a slightly edgier rock & roll sound, with a touch more bite on the guitars and friendlier, catchier choruses.

Mike pinder’s confessional ballad from the Moodies' signature 1970 Question of Balance album. While never released as a single in the UK and the US, it was released in France (where it reached No. 1) in 1971, with the ‘B’ side being Candle of Life from another earlier album, To Our Children’s Children’s Children. The song lyrical-musical arrangement is at top level, and while the album signified the band’s transition from psychedelic sound to more rocky nature, this is vintage old Moody track with elaborate orchestration and haunting nature
And the sounds we make together Is the music to the story in your eyes It's been shining down upon me now I realize. Listen to the tide slowly turning Wash all our heartaches away We're part of the fire that is burning And from the ashes we can build another day. But I'm frightened for your children That the life that we are living is in vain And the sunshine we've been waiting for Will turn to rain. But I'm frightened.
