I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)" Released: January 1973. However, although the album showcases political concerns, in the 1990 documentary The Moody Blues: Legend of a Band, bassist John Lodge described "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)" as a response to fans who mistakenly read guru-like wisdom into the Moodies' lyrics. Instrumentally, singer/keyboardist Mike Pinder, in addition to the Mellotron, used a similar keyboard device called the Chamberlin. The Moody Blues are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964, initially consisting of keyboardist Mike Pinder, t Ray Thomas, guitarist Denny Laine, drummer Graeme Edge, and bassist Clint Warwick. They first came to prominence playing rhythm and blues music. After some early lineup changes, the band settled on a line-up of Pinder, Thomas, Edge, guitarist Justin Hayward and bassist John Lodge, which would stay together for most of the band's "classic era" through the late 1960s-early 1970s.

On January 19, 1973, the classic rock band’s terrific I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band) was released. The song was included in their 1972 Seventh Sojourn album. Here’s a pretty wild fact: from 1967 through 1972, the Moody Blues released one album every year. The last six in that streak of seven each performed better on the Album Sales chart than its predecessor. The numbers go: 23-20-14-3-2-1. During that stretch, the symphonic-prog rock band earned a boatload of popular singles
