Animal Saturday 2008. Animal Saturday 2008. See All. About Those Peabodys. Under the straight-up punk & roll influences that look up to Dijits, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Motörhead, and Nashville Pussy, Those Peabodys followed in this tradition upon their formation in 1999

Powerfully primitive riff rock utterly without pretense, the debut of Those Peabodys is a testament to the resiliency of the garage rock sensibility.

Those Peabodys are just two guys from Texas, playing all the instruments after the rest of their band quit just before the recording of this, their debut record. A quirky indie band with hard rock and blues punk aspirations, Those Peabodys have some real moments of excitement here, in the form of some tough, angular riffs. Songs like "Plum Parts" could almost be a lost Tricky Woo outtake from their The Enemy is Real album. Too Quick" recalls recent Rocket from the Crypt riffage and vocal styling but done on a less grand, more garage level

Sometimes their riffs sit right atop each other for a huge sound, while at other times they mix their dueling guitar lines for that . It's taut and frenetic, and it forces crowds into involuntary fits of synchronized headbanging
