It is nearly ubiquitous among Brazilians as a household item. Regina’s voice is among the most loved in the history of Brazilian music.

In spite of all this, the album "Elis & Tom" is considered one of the most important in our musical history - and was even charged as "compulsory reading" in the entrance exam of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 2018, along with classic Brazilian literature. This is because the lyrics and melodies of this recording carry a great lyric weight, as well as helping young people to know a little more about these two personalities so important to the history of our music.
Elis Regina, one of Brazil’s most adored singers, partnered in 1974 with bossa nova star Antônio Carlos Tom Jobim to make one of the finest songbook albums of all time. With her relaxed and intimate delivery, Regina highlights the melodic genius of Jobim’s songs like no one else, whether it’s a hovering minor-key mood piece like Modhina or an airtight groove like Brigas Nunca Mais. Jobim mainly plays piano, though he sings with Regina on the playful opener Águas de Março and elsewhere
