Insineratehymn' is clearly Deicide doing exactly what Deicide shouldn't. Instead of high-speed melodic riffing, we get mid-paced chugging. Instead of fury, we get groove. This obviously isn't as good as classic Deicide, but I think it's a good album. You should try "Insineratehymn" if you are familiar with Deicide and wish to hear something slightly new from this death metal outfit.

Insineratehymn is the fifth studio album by American death metal band Deicide. The band's songwriting on this album exhibits songs with slower and more atmospheric grooves. The track "Bible Basher" is the only song that has become a staple in the band's live set. Rather than being about God, the song "Forever Hate You" is directed at Glen Benton's ex-wife. From the very title of the album �Insineratehymn� which is obviously both extremely artistic and contains a double meaning regarding the litany of songs and their anger at agents of religious deception, Deicide blasts forth with a finely produced group of selections that aim to take apart various themes of spiritual practice. Music-wise �Insineratehymn� has a tone akin to early Bathory but modernized with strong production values and gravel-throated bursts from a tireless lead singer Glen Benton who you might not be surprised has stirred controversy in the recent past when magazines have taken his philosophical leanings out of context.

Not that Deicide care, but Insineratehymm is that rarest of death metal records that fans of all heavy music have a chance to enjoy. Continuing their late-'90s trend of simplifying their music and focusing on memorable riffs and stripped down arrangements, the songs on this 2000 release each have unique qualities, and even some near-melodicism.
