Using water as the album’s central image, Musée Mécanique has crafted a story both surreal and insightful, meticulous and moving. It’s a record about travels and transitions. And Musée Mécanique knows a thing or two about transition: To perform the new arrangements live is a daunting task requiring the once-minimal group to utilize more than a dozen keyboards and an array of acoustic instruments, from flugelhorn to lap-steel to musical saw. Nevertheless, having swelled from a duo into a solid five-piece, the band now pulls it off with impressive passion and precision.

Founding members Micah Rabwin and Sean Ogilvie were raised in California, where they drew influence from the museum's vintage appeal. Adopting the name Musée Mécanique, the duo began making music that paid homage to the same era evoked by the museum, which housed antique arcade games and novelties salvaged from an old San Francisco amusement park. The two then relocated to Portland, where they welcomed new members into the band's fold and began composing songs in earnest.

Musée Mécanique is an American band based in Portland, Oregon, fronted by singer-songwriters Micah Rabwin and Sean Ogilvie. The band's debut LP Hold This Ghost was released 30 September 2008 on Frog Stand Records of Brooklyn, New York and in 2010 on Souterrain Transmissions of Berlin, Germany. The 2014 album From the Shores of Sleep was released by the Portland indie label Tender Loving Empire and in Europe by Glitterhouse Records.
