Live at Monterey is a posthumous live album released on October 16, 2007. It contains Hendrix's performance with his band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. The album is similar to the Reprise release Jimi Plays Monterey, released in 1986, but with less dynamic range. Eddie Kramer mixed this version, with the DVD offering . channel surround sound. The Jimi Hendrix Experience's breakthrough appearance at the Monterey International Pop Festival on June 18, 1967, has been committed to disc, in whole or in part, before, starting with the split LP Monterey International Pop Festival, which featured four tracks by Hendrix on one side and performances by Otis Redding on the other. That album was released scant weeks before Hendrix's death in September 1970. In 1986, Jimi Plays Monterey, containing the full ten-song set, appeared. Both those albums were released on Hendrix's original .

Jimi Hendrix performed on the final evening of the festival, June 18, 1967. Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones, who did not perform at the festival, introduced The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Pete Townshend of The Who knew the incendiary power of Hendrix's act and refused to follow the Experience at Monterey.
