Matthew Ward was apart of the ground breaking group Second Chapter of Acts with his sisters which defined contemporary Christian music in the 70’s. He began his solo career in the late 80’s with the album "Towards Eternity and in the 90’s he overcame cancer which inspired the project My Redeemer sharing songs of faith to comfort those who are suffering.

Matthew Ward is one of the pioneers of the Jesus music genre, later to be called Contemporary Christian music. He is best known as a part of the trio, 2nd Chapter of Acts in which he sang and performed with his sisters, Annie Herring and Nellie (Ward) Greisen.

Edward Matthew Ward RA (14 July 1816 – 15 January 1879) was an English Victorian narrative painter best known for his murals in the Palace of Westminster depicting episodes in British history from the English Civil War to the Glorious Revolution. Ward was born in Pimlico, London. As a youth, he created illustrations for the well-known book Rejected Addresses, written by his uncles James and Horace Smith. He also created illustrations to the papers of Washington Irving.
