Collectors Jazz (Thirteen Masters Previously Unreleased) (aka Alternate Masters Vo. ) Bop 1954. The Art Of Charlie Parker - Vol. 1: The Fabulous Bird Bop 1955. This is a great album, you get Parker at his peak plus a young Miles experimenting to find his own voice. All throughout the music is pure bop created at a time when that style was jazz. The end of bop was the end of a great time in jazz, and in many ways jazz never recovered the sort of wit and sophisticated intelligence presented here.
Charlie Parker Memorial, Vol. 2 is an LP record by Charlie Parker, released posthumously by Savoy Records. Several tracks on this album had been previously released on other formats (78 rpm records, 7 inch EPs and 10 inch LPs), but is the first 12-inch release of these master takes. It contains selections from five sessions recorded between 1945 and 1948, and contains several previously unreleased alternate takes from these sessions.
As a leader, Charlie Parker recorded for Savoy and Dial during 1945-1948 and then for Verve exclusively (at least in the studios) during 1949-1954. This remarkable ten-CD box set, which adds quite a bit of material to an earlier ten-LP set, contains all of these recordings plus Bird's earlier appearances with Jazz at the Philharmonic.
