Description

Here is a video that is a first of its kind. Firstly, I do not own this piece/recording nor do I claim to- this is purely for educational benefit

Symbiosis is an album by jazz pianist Bill Evans with an orchestra arranged and conducted by Claus Ogerman recorded in 1974 and released on the MPS label. It was the third orchestral album by Evans and Ogerman following Plays the Theme from The . s and Other Great Songs and Bill Evans Trio with Symphony Orchestra (1965). Portions of the 2nd Movement were used on the soundtrack of the 2004 film Sideways. All compositions by Claus Ogerman.

Legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans is most often thought of as a "trio" player, as most of his albums have been piano/bass/drums, with the occasional solo or duo album. But he did record a select few albums with orchestras, and that's what makes SYMBIOSIS a special and unique entry in Evans' hugh catalog. Recorded in 1974, it was released in 1994 on CD for the first time.

Bill Evans was an incredibly influential American jazz pianist and composer, known for his expressive harmony, unique melodic lines, and his extensive collaborations with musicians such as Miles Davis (with whom he recorded the record Kind of Blue), George Russell, Scott LaFaro, Paul Motian, and Chuck Israels. Waltz for Debby and Sunday at the Village Vanguard are two of Evans' best-known and highly-acclaimed albums and were recorded with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian. Tracklist: 01.
