Profile: American country rock group, founded in 1972.

The Lost Gonzo Band was founded in 1973 and toured and recorded with many of Texas' most colorful musicians including Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphey and Ray Wylie Hubbard. The original members of the band were Bob Livingston, Gary P. Nunn, John Inmon, Kelly Dunn, Tomas Ramirez and Donny Dolan. Over the years, the band has also included Paul Pearcy, Craig D. Hillis, Herbert Steiner, Mike Holleman, Michael McGeary, Bobby Smith, Lloyd Maines, Radoslav Lorković and Riley Osbourn.

Gonzo is the fifth studio album by American rock band Foxy Shazam. The album was announced and self-released for free online downloads on April 2, 2014. The band supported Gonzo on their headlining "Gonzo Tour" from May to August 2014 across the United States. Gonzo was recorded, in its entirety, in a single room in Chicago, Illinois and produced by Steve Albini.

The album, recorded in August 1973, was called Viva Terlingua! and the musicians were named the Lost Gonzo Band. The mainstays were Gary P. Nunn (keyboards, vocals) and Bob Livingston (bass, vocals), along with Michael McGeary, Herb Steiner, Craig Hillis and Kelly Dunn. The band toured with Walker for five years and cut solo albums. The line-up changed but an important addition was John Inmon (lead guitar). In 1990 Jerry Jeff Walker re-formed the band (Inmon, Livingston and drummer Freddie Krc) for the Gonzo Compadres. The Lost Gonzo Band has now recorded two more albums, the current personnel being Inmon, Livingston, Riley Osborne (keyboards), Tomas Ramirez (saxophone), Paul Pearcy (drums) and producer Lloyd Maines (steel guitar). They describe themselves quite accurately as ‘a rock ‘n’ roll jazz country reggae R&B Texas roadhouse band.

The Lost Gonzo Band, are famous (along with Michael Murphy and a few others) for pioneering country-rock and helping create that Cosmic Country sound. They are perhaps best known for touring and recording with Jerry Jeff Walker. But on their own, as the Lost Gonzo band, they recorded three excellent albums in the 1970s with their last official album being "Signs of Life" that contained their signature song "London Homesick Blues", written by member Gary P. Nunn, which became the theme song for the PBS TV series Austin City Limits

Gonzo was recorded, in its entirety, in a single room in Chicago, Illinois and produced by Steve Albini. The majority of the instrumentals and vocals on the album were recorded in the same room at the same time; only one overdub was used on the entire record. When asked why Foxy Shazam decided to record with Steve Albini, lead singer Eric Nally stated that they chose Albini because, "he's really the only person around nowadays on his level.
