They achieved Top 40 success with the single "Everybody Dance", which peaked at on Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 1986. Other tracks include the single "Affecttion", "Summertime Love", and a ballad titled "Long Cold Nights"

Best known for their 1985 hit "Everybody Dance," Ta Mara & the Seen were among the many acts that came out of Prince's Minneapolis funk/rock scene in the 1980s – a scene that the Time, Morris Day, Sheila . Jesse Johnson's Revue, Vanity 6, Apollonia 6 and Mazarati and the Family were also associated with.

Ta Mara & the Seen's second album turned out to be their last; dropped by A&M, the band broke up in 1989 without ever recording a third album. Tamara and the Seen were a Minneapolis based group who were produced by The Time’s former guitarist Jesse Johnson from ‘85 - '8. Released as the first single from the bands fourth album Stand! on November 1, 1968, it quickly makes an impact. Entering the Hot 100 at on November 30, 1968, it climbs to the top of the chart eleven weeks later. Sly & The Family Stone also name check Everyday People in their second chart topper (as well as the singles original B-side Sing A Simple Song ) Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin). The song is covered by numerous artists over the years, including versions by Billy Paul, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and Ta Mara & The Seen. In 1992, Arrested Development also.
