12 Bar Blues is the debut solo album from Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland. Its sound and style differ greatly from STP's previous releases. The design concept of the cover is a homage to the cover design of John Coltrane's Blue Train album. The title name comes from the simple chord progression known as "twelve-bar blues. In a 1998 interview on MTV's 120 Minutes, Weiland states that his then brother-in-law introduced him to Blair Lamb, who co-produced 12 Bar Blues with Weiland.

British blues: Direct from the Delta to Dartford and beyond, the Blues turned British rock on its head. The tracks on their second album are an eclectic bunch, blending the blues with folk, country, gospel and even prog. And they sound better now than they did then. 26. Juicy Lucy - Juicy Lucy (Vertigo, 1969). R&B At The Marquee qualifies as the first British blues album, drawing on country blues and Chicago electric blues with a particular fondness for Willie Dixon songs. Blues Incorporated’s approach is unpretentious but still academic compared to the young Turks who would soon consign Korner to yesterday’s man.

Liner Notes – Mike Scott. Track 10: Recorded at Fantasy December 7 1986 Vocal, Organ, Electric and Acoustic Guitar recorded at Westside January 2001. Too Close To Heaven ‎(CDr, Album, Promo).

Modern electric Blues starts here. He went on to be a solo star, and the 20 tracks in this compilation are all taken from his hit singles, including 'Juke', 'My Babe', 'Mean Ol' World' and 'Boom, Boom, Out Go the Lights'. These original tracks show off Little Walters unique, pioneering talents that became a blueprint for the Chicago sound that still powers Blues Bands today. This album is a sublime example of modern Blues-Rock, with a combination of slow, soulful Blues, 'film-noire' soundtracks and good-time boogie numbers. On his ninth studio album, Joe Bonamassa 's increasing confidence as a writer, as heard on 'Black Lung Heartache', 'Slow Train' and the title track, allows his songs to touch a nerve in the collective memory, like the best Blues should.

Scott Weiland's addictions were well documented and were often blamed for the disintegration of Stone Temple Pilots. Frustrated with his constant relapses, the remaining Pilots formed Talk Show, whose debut album rocked hard but lacked the style and melody of prime STP. Instead of reviving the Magnificent Bastards, Weiland decided to record a solo album with producer Daniel Lanois. The teaming was unexpected but inspired - 12 Bar Blues is an unpredictable, carnivalesque record confirming that Weiland was the visionary behind STP's sound.

This is a great collection of Andy Scott’s solo work from the 1970’s and 1980’s notable for the excellent "Lady Starlight" and "Krugerrand" singles, lots of the songs are well written and quite catchy except for the track "Never Too Young" but its only one small gripe overall its a great album.
