Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez-Alcasid (/rɪˈdʒɪn vəˈlæskɛz/; born April 22, 1970) is a Filipino singer, actress and record producer. She gained recognition by winning both the 1984 Ang Bagong Kampeon and the 1989 Asia-Pacific Song Contest, representing the Philippines in the latter. Velasquez rose to fame with the release of "Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang" from her self-titled debut album in 1987.

It is a cover album that consists of love songs, originally recorded by male OPM acts from the 80's and 90's. It turned Platinum three days after its official release.
Regine is the first studio album by Filipino singer-actress Regine Velasquez, released in 1987 by Viva Records in the Philippines in CD and cassette format and later released on 2002 in digital download. The album was produced by Ronnie Henares, also her manager then. It was composed of original Filipino compositions by Christine Bendebel, Vehnee Saturno and OPM 1980s singer-composer Keno among others, except for "Ebb Tide" originally by Frank Chacksfield & His Orchestra composed by Robert Maxwell and Carl Sigman. Regine is Velasquez's first full studio album released after winning champion at RPN 9's Ang Bagong Kampeon singing competition.

She also played in a few movies. In 1957 she opened Chez Régine in the Latin Quarter, which quickly became the place to be seen for playboys and princes. It was here that she introduced France to the 'Twist', having seen the Paris cast of West Side Story warming up to Chubby Checker records. In the 1970s Régine moved to New York and lived in a suite of the Delmonico Hotel.
