This piece of wax is probably unknown to almost everyone here, am I wrong? I wouldn't be surprised to learn that most of the copies pressed by the label are left to rot in a basement due to the extreme lack of interest this album received upon release. No one ever heard about Navigator afterwards...Nevertheless, the dark minimalist heavenly inhabited music you can find here is just majestic. I believe they were too avant-garde for their time; a few years latter "Nostalgie" would probably have found its audience with the followers of bands such as Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Microphones/Mt Eerie. This album is not a succession of tracks, it's a story from which you need some time to recover, his alienated beauty distilled in a manner that is both very calm and visceraly painfull at the same time. No one has ever managed to surf so splendidly on that sonic paradox... More Spooky than the most degenarate death metal record and yet as beautiful as a desolate view on the shores of Scotland at nightfall. This is were all things end, and were all things may have a chance of rebirth... If only they could listen...

I saw them sometime in '97/'98, supporting Mogwai on that band's debut apoearance in Birmingham, at a venue called the Flapper And Firkin (now just the Flapper...) and they were superb, sublime, beautiful and mesmerising...a perfect warm-up for the Mogwai storm to come...I also have this fine album, and listen to it on occasion, a fine piece of work, often wonder where they are now...probably in jobs in the office...
