Hawkwind Zoo, Sonic Assassins, Hawklords, Psychedelic Warriors, Group X, Hawkwind Light Orchestra, The Elves of Silbury Hill. Hawkwind are an English rock band and one of the earliest space rock groups. Formed in November 1969, Hawkwind have gone through many incarnations and they have incorporated different styles into their music, including hard rock, progressive rock and psychedelic rock. This album offered a refinement of the band's image and philosophy courtesy of graphic artist Barney Bubbles and underground press writer Robert Calvert, as depicted in the accompanying Hawklog booklet, which would be further developed into the Space Ritual stage show. Science fiction author Michael Moorcock and dancer Stacia also started contributing to the band.

BBC Radio One Live in Concert is a 1991 live album of a 1972 concert by Hawkwind. It was recorded straight to quarter-inch tape – there were no overdubs and no possibility of remixing. This particular performance was also continuous for one hour which made for an interesting change over when the programme was aired since the reels of tape only lasted approximately 30 minutes each. The band undertook a 42 date UK tour in October and November 1978, with support from Patrik Fitzgerald and The Softies.
